Elephants in Botswana
- A national park in Botswana, the Moremi Game Reserve is host to one of the more elusive African animals: the leopard. Situated on the Okavango river delta, the reserve boasts a diverse ecosystem from the wetlands of the delta to thick wooded areas. It is home to more than 500 different kinds of birds as well as jackal, red lechwe and African wild dog.
- Established to protect the fragile ecosystem in southern Namibia, the NamibRand Nature Reserve enables many species of wildlife to have a protected migratory path. Thought to be the largest nature reserve in the southern part of Africa, the reserve is host to the best of both worlds: savanna areas as well as mountain ranges.
-In the northwest corner of Namibia lies Etosha National Park. When originally established in 1907, it was the largest game reserve in the world. Now at just a quarter of it’s normal size, it is dominated by the Etosha Pan, which is a salt pan desert. Etosha is a great place to catch a glimpse at the endangered black rhinoceros and the black-faced impala.
