Hi,
Looks like I am the first one to register as a “Fellow Travel Blogger” on this sweet Africa blog. So I will just give a short introduction to who I am and where I am traveling:
My name is Tim, I am an American citizen, but feel more like a World citizen. I have traveled all my life and my next trip will be to East Africa. I have never traveled in Africa before, so if other travelers have any advice for me that would be awesome! I haven’t set up a detailed plan for my trip other than a few “must-do’s” like the safaris, etc. I imagine the end result will be something like:
Flying into Nairobi and travel from there to Tanzania. Safari either in Kenya, Tanzania or both. After this I will probably be going down to the coast, maybe even to Zanzibar. I have also been considering Uganda and Rwanda instead of Tanzania’s coast / Zanzibar, but I don’t know much about those countries yet. So basically all I need now is some suggestions from people with more travel experience in those areas than what I have!
And I will keep you all updated on how my plan develops, and hopefully I will write some thrilling blog posts from my trip when I’m over there!
Thanks,
-Tim

Hi Tim,
Thanks for registering as a Fellow Travel Blogger!
I was on a safari in Kenya several years ago, and I loved it! You can either rent a car and drive around in the parks on your own, or go on a guided safari. You are likely to see way more animals if you have a guide. They have a lot of experience, they are great at spotting the animals, and they communicate with each other so they always know where the animals are.
In Uganda I think you can also see Gorillas, but I don’t know much about that. Maybe somebody who reads this know??
Zanzibar is very relaxed and beautiful. It’s not much to do there, so it will basically be a beach life. Which can be nice after the safaris. But if you are looking for adventures, I would rather head for Uganda.
Hopefully somebody else, with more experience from East Africa will leave a comment with more advice for you!
However, thanks a lot for sharing your plans with us! I look forward to keep reading more posts from your trip!

Thanks Hakon,
I am sorta torn towards both Zanzibar and Uganda. I wanna get the adventure feeling you talk about, and I’m sure Uganda would be the place for that. But chillin out in Zanzibar is hard to resist. I’ll probably choose Uganda tho. I can always go to the beach somewhere else!
But thanks for the helpful reply! I would love to hear from more people if anyone out there have traveled in these countries!
I’m glad you are going to East Africa. Have been to Uganda twice and I love it there! The people are amazing, and they have a gorilla preserve as well as the source of the Nile in Jinja. Make sure you take malaria medicine (getting malaria is no fun, believe me!), and drink lots of water, and have fun! God bless! Emily
