Sahara – A different travel destination

Sahara Camel Safari I am the first to admit that Sahara has never crossed my mind when adding places to my long travel destination wish-list. And I am also the first to admit that The Africa Travel Blog has a huge bias towards Southern Africa. However, today I will step in a new direction. I will try to create an image of Sahara as a real travel destination rather than “that big, empty space we fly across on the way to South Africa”. And I know that I have a new image of Sahara after seeing these photos and video.

At 5892 meters above sea level, and 4600 meters above it’s base, the mountain provides a serious and demanding trek that takes between 6 and 10 days, depending on which of the six routes your climbing.

Photos From Africa – The Best of the Web

Wildlife in Africa Everyone with a passion for Africa and Travel will always appreciate good photos of the African landscape, cultures, people and wildlife. With a continent so full of amazing beauty, you don’t need to be a professional photographer to take stunning pictures. But of course it helps to have some skills, so instead of making an album out of my own amateur-ish photos, I will rather direct you to my favorite websites for pictures from Africa.

Trek Earth’s Africa Gallery is the first one to have my recommendations! They have great photos from all over Africa, and they have tons of them!

Travellerspoint has a good collection of African travel photos taken by travelers like you and me. But as I said earlier, you don’t need to be a professional to take beautiful pictures in Africa. Here is one of their albums, this one with Travel Pictures from South Africa.
