Discuss: Would you travel to Zimbabwe at this time?

September 22nd, 2009 by admin

As you know, Zimabwe is still ruled by the disastrous Robert Mugabe (though the power is shared with Morgan Tsvangirai). And whatever you think about Mugabe, there is no doubt that he has driven this beautiful country into a deep dark hole.

Will Soccer Tourists Disturb this Peace?

Will Soccer Tourists Disturb this Peace?

On June 11th, 2010, the FIFA Soccer World Cup kicks of in South Africa, and the whole world will be watching. But even more important for people living in South Africa, is that for them it will feel like the whole world is watching from within South Africa. What I mean is: The amount of tourists flowing in to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and other host cities will be enormous. Hotels, restaurants, tour companies, safari camps and even the vineyards are all bracing up for this huge event. And there is no question that money will be made, jobs created and the country’s tourism industry gets invaluable attention in the world media. But the questions I ask are:Will South Africa actually be able to pull it off and create a lasting good image of itself as a family friendly, safe and responsible travel destination? Will the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup be good for South Africa in the long run?
