Where to see Penguins? -In South Africa of course..

Did you know that you can see Penguins in South Africa? Nobody will be surprised if you tell them that you saw a lion or an elephant on your safari in Africa, but if you show them pictures of penguins their eyes might widen a bit. Penguins in Africa? Where? How? Well, continue reading and I will tell you where to see penguins in South Africa and I will show you videos of their rude behavior!

Where Can I See Penguins in South Africa?

To see penguins in South Africa, you don’t need to go on a safari. You don’t even need to leave the town (as long as you are in the right town). All you have to do is head down to the beach. That is after all what penguins do. They swim. Apparently the South African penguins are a bit more leisurely than the typical Antarctic penguin you imagine. And they are also more tame! You can actually find penguins all along Southern Africa’s coast, from Angola to Mozambique, but the only place you will get a close encounter is at Boulders Beach in South Africa!

The Tame Penguins at Boulders Beach, Simons Town

Penguins are extremely nervous by nature, and therefore also hard to find for us normal people. But there is one place in the world where tourists flock to the see them and the penguins don’t even seem to care. This place is Boulders Beach in Simons Town, a short drive from Cape Town, South Africa. For some unknown reason, this penguin colony seems completely accustomed to people, and they live their happy penguin life with humans all around them. They are actually so fearless that they have a reputation of stealing the beach goers belongings. And there is plenty of evidence against them.

As I said, the penguins are not only tame in Simons Town. Some locals (probably the same kind of people who hate sea gulls) are also greatly annoyed with these funny little creatures. And the highly amusing video below displays what I suspect to be the reason.
