Lying on the northern banks of the River Ubangi, Bangui certainly is not a place to be missed while on tours to Africa. There is a series of rapids that the River Bangui flows through and this stops the commercial shipping in the upper portion of the river. The river Ubangi is a navigable river and it turns south just below Bangui and then links itself to the River  Congo which lies south of the Equator near a region called Brazzaville as the chief northern tributary of this place. There is a demarcation by the River between the Democratic Republic and the Central African Republic. Bangui has the Zongo town just lying in front of it.

The Central African Republic region has high temperatures throughout the year. The city of Bangui is nor different. The months of May to October see a lot of rain, and the place is hotter and also wetter than other northern parts of the country.

How to Reach

Bangui is a place that can be reached by air, rail, and road. The nearest airport is the Bangui M’Poko International Airport. This is situated around 7 km from Bangui city and has served more than 60,000 passengers. There are flights going from here to Tripoli, Douala, Paris, Yaoundé, and N’Djamena.

When you reach Bangui don’t get exhausted by the long lines in the visa stamping booth, as these are formalities to be followed and it is very necessary to do all this. So ensure that you declare your things, get your baggage checked, and just take care while you do all this.

Visit the Presidential palace here and see the lovely triumphal arch that is found here in Bokassa. Then see the beautiful Presidential Palace too. The central market lying around 5 km to the north of the residential region is another lovely attraction here.
