The Seychelles is an expansive archipelago east of mainland Africa and north of Madagascar. With over 115 islands, Seychelles has a beach for virtually every traveler’s preference. The largest island, Mahe, alone has more than 75 excellent beaches.

Probably due to its remote location and the enormous distance between the islands on each end of the archipelago, Seychelles beaches have a reputation for serenity, seclusion and a quietness that takes one’s breath away. Some of the best beaches include:

  • Anse Lazio – On the north western end of Praslin Island, Anse Lazio is regularly ranked as one of the best beaches in the world and is an important driver of the beach tourism industry of the Seychelles. The wide beaches with brilliant white sands would be good enough. But it is the huge boulders that dot the sandy shores with the takamaka and palm trees providing a perfect backdrop that make this beach unforgettable.
  • Beau Vallon – A beach on the main island of Mahe whose popularity stems from its close proximity to the country’s capital Victoria. If there is any Seychelles beach that should come anywhere close to crowding during the peak season, the Beau Vallon is it. Interestingly, numbers are always relatively modest.
  • Honeymoon Beach – A small beach on North Island whose name will not come as a surprise once you see it.
  • Victorin Beach – Voted the Seychelles’ best beach several times, Victorin is set on the private Fregate Island. The excellent beach, blue ocean waters and dramatic black huge rocks in the background all add to its picturesque beauty.
